UNIT 4: MUSIC AND ARTS Period: 26 Lesson 1: Getting started I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: use the lexical items related to the topic Music and Arts. 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar : - Review: Comparison : ( not ) as …..as the same as different from b. Lexical items : - Vocab: Lexical items related to the topic "Music and Arts" c. Pronunciation: - sounds / ʃ / and / ʒ / 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Quality and competence: - Be confident and friendly with the new school environment - Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS) 1.Teacher’s preparation: - Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials 2. Students’ preparation: -Textbook, notebook, school things. III/ WORKING ARRANGEMENTS( WAYS OF WORKING ) - Pair work , individual work, group work, T-WC IV/ TEACHING PROCEDURE: 1-Greeting`and checking students’ adtendence: Total: In: ......... Out: .......... . 2-Checking the old lesson 3-New lesson: Teacher’s activities Students’ s activities I.Warm up Chatting - Teacher writes on the board: Music + Arts - Answer the questions 1. Do you often listen to music? When? How often? 2. What kind of music do you like? Why? 3. What is art? are arts? Give examples. - Answer individually 1,2 (Students ideas) 3. - Art: the use of imagination to express ideas or feelings, particularly in painting, drawing or sculpture. - The arts (in general): art, music, theatre, literature, etc when you think of them as a group. II. Find the express and extend the conversation (c, d P39) - Divide the students into four groups. - Work in group to find the expressions in c P39. 1b. Work in pairs.... (p39) - In group, work in pairs to make short role-plays with the expression. - Teacher monitors and gives help. - Have some pairs act out their conversations. E.g: A: There'll be a music concert on Teachers' Day. B: Really? Are we going to sing? A: Yes, of course. 2.Write the correct word.... (p39) - Look at the pictures P39. (p39) - Run through all the sentences - Work in pairs to complete the sentences in 2 - Have some students read aloud the sentences. - What are the differences between a painting and a portrait; a museum and an art gallery? - Pair work 1. art gallery 2. painting 3. museum 4. camera 5. opera Note: - A portrait: a painting, drawing or photograph of a person, especialy of the head and shoulders. - A painting: a picture that has been made using painting. - A museum: a building in which objects of artistic, cultural, historical, or sicientific interest are kept and shown to the public. Artwork at the galleries is often for sale while at museums there is nothing for sale. - An art gallery: A building where paintings and other works of art are shown to the public for sale. IV. Consolidation - Recall how to use the expression in c P39. - Answer individually - Remember V. Homework - Learn by heart vocabulary and structures. - Ex B1,2,3 P29-30 (Workbook) - Prepare next lesson. Unit 4. Lesson 2 - Listen and take note the assignments
