UNIT 6: FOLK TAKES Lesson 6: Skills 2 I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: - Listen for specific information in a fairy tale - Write a narrative of a legend/ folk/ fairy/tale/ fable - Skills: Listening and writing 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar the past continuous and past simple tense b. Lexical items : Vocab: items related to the topic ‘ Folk Tales’ c. Pronunciation: -Clusters: 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Quality and competence: - Be confident and friendly with the new school environment - Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS) 1.Teacher’s preparation: - Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials 2. Students’ preparation: - Textbook, notebook, school things. III/ WORKING ARRANGEMENTS( WAYS OF WORKING ) - Pair work , individual work, group work, T-WC IV/ TEACHING PROCEDURE: 1-Greeting`and checking students’ adtendence: Total: In: ......... Out: .......... . 2-Checking the old lesson 3-New lesson Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I. Warm up - 5'(Chatting) -Ask Ss to look at the pictures and make some guess about the fairy tale The Princess and The Dragon. Ask them: What/Who do you think may be the main characters in the fairy tale? What may happen in the fairy tale ? - Introduce the new lesson - Answer the questions II.The new lesson A. Listeninng - 15' * Vocabulary: - Check vocab: R&R 1. Pre-listening E1/ page 65. Listen to the fairy tale The princess .... (p65) - Have Ss cover the right side of the page where the story is written out in the green box. - Ask Ss to read the statements carefully and guess the incorrect information - Collect the ss’ ideas * Vocab: - ogre(n): yêu tinh - capture(v): bắt giữ - rescure(v): giải thoát - dragon(n):con rồng - anger(n): sự tức giận - castle(n): lâu đài - breath(n) :hơi thở - Read the statements carefully and guess the incorrect information - Read the questions and answer them by prediction 2. While listening - Ss listen to the recording and check their answers/ guesses. - Play the recording twice and ask ss to check their answers - Ask ss to share compare - Get feedback - T calls on 2 ss to write the answers on the board the confirms the correct answers 2. Listen again and fill in the missing words (p65) - Ask Ss to read the story carefully and ask ss to work in pairs to discuss what may be missing by using the information they heard in 1. - Play the recording again and have ss find the missing words as they listen. - Ask ss to share their answers with their partners. - Play the recording more times until Ss have chosen all their answers. - Listen and correct statements 2.Key : 1.Key: 1. castle 2. give gold 3. with anger 4. breath 5. strong back B. Writing - 20' 3.Make notes about one of your favourite fairy tales. You can invent your own story (p65) - Ask Ss to make notes about one of their favourite fairy tales or invent their own fairy tale. - Remind them that they do not have to write full sentences and ask them to read : Remember - Work in pairs. Discuss with your partner the festival in Vietnam that you like best. 4a.Use your notes in 3 to write the fairy tale. Use The Princess and the Dragon as a model (p65) - Ask them to read : Remember - Ask Ss to refer back to the reading passage in Skills 1 for useful language and ideas, and note some necessary expressions and language on the board. - Ask Ss to work individually to write the first draft. T can display some of the stories on the board. - Other Ss and T give comments. Ss edit and revise their stories as homework. - Work individually III. Consolidation (3') - Sum up the main content of the lesson V. Homework (2') - Do E1,2 - Take note
