What is a simple sentence? - Notice that a sentence that has two verbs as in the sentence/enjoy playing and look forward to. It every weekend or two nouns as in. My mother and I go shopping every weekend is still a simple sentence because it has only one clause. ? What is a compound sentence? - Each clause is of equal importance and could stand alone. Rules: - A simple sentence is one independent clause. - A compound sentence is two or more independent clauses joined together. They can be joined with conjunctions and , but, on, so, yet, or conjunctive adverbs however, nevertheless, moreover, therefore, otherwise. I.
