UNIT 2: LIFE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson 6: SKILLS 2 I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: - use lexical items related to the topic life in the countryside - Listen to get specific information about changes in the countryside - Write a paragraph about changes in the countryside 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar : Simple present, simple continuous b. Lexical items : - Vocabulary about life in the countryside c. Pronunciation: 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Quality and competence: - Be confident and friendly with the new school environment - Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS) 1.Teacher’s preparation: - Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials 2.Students’ preparation: - Textbook, notebook, school things. III/ WORKING ARRANGEMENTS( WAYS OF WORKING ) - Pair work , individual work, group work, T-WC IV/ TEACHING PROCEDURE: 1-Greeting`and checking students’ adtendence: Total: In: ......... Out: .......... . 2-Checking the old lesson 3-New lesson: Teacher's activities Student’s activities I. Warm up (5') ( Whisper) - Teacher divides ss into 2 teams - Call on 5 ss from each team to make 2 lines. Ss in each line number ss from 1 to 5 and the distance from one to one is 1meter - T whispers one sentence to the number 1 of two teams. They must whisper to the next . The fifth student from each team write the sentence on the board. - Take turn - The team with more correct sentences is the winner - Introduce the new lesson - Sentences : - I live in a beautiful house in the countryside - I like living in the countryside because it is so peaceful - There are a lot of changes in my village II.The new lesson A Listening (17') - Set the scene - Make sure that ss understand the meaning of some words 1. Listen to a boy talking about changes in his village and tick the changes he mentions (p23) - Have ss to go through the sentences from A to F and guess which sentences the boy mentions -Collect some ss' ideas - Have ss listen to the recording and check the prediction - Have ss compare the answers with their partners - Get feedback - Play the recording once to check - T confirms the correct sentences * Vocab: - equip(v): trang bị - oil lamp(n): đèn dầu - stream(n): dòng suối - Guess which sentences the boy mentions - Work individually 1.Key: A…..…The roads in the village B…ü…Electrical applicances in the homes C…ü…Means of transport D….......Entertainment E…ü…School F…ü…Visitors 2. Listen again and say if the sentences are true or false - Give Ss to read the sentences. - Have ss Ss listen to the recording again ( as many times as needed of if time allows) and complete the exercise. -T checks their answers as a class. - Listen again and answer: 2.Key: 1.F 2.T 3.F 4.T 5.T 3. Listen again and anser the questions in no more than four words (P22) -Ask Ss to read the questions first to see what kind of information they need to find. Some Ss might be able to answer some questions without listening to the recording again. -T plays the recording.Ss listen and decide what word/phrase to write down for the answers. They can compare their answerswith a partner. - T calls on some ss to write the answers on the board. - Ask other ss to give comments - T confirms the right answers Note: Some Ss may not be familiar with short answers. You may allow them to answer the questions in full first and see what they can do to shorten their answers to within four words. Ask them to focus on the key words. -Work individually to listen again and answer the questions in no more than four words 3.Key: 1.His parents . 2. Life outside their village. 3. Nearby/Near the village . 4. The way of life. B. Writing (18') 4. What do you think? Which change(s) in the Listening do you see as possive? Which do you see as negative? Support your opinion with a reason. Write it out (p23) - First, remind Ss of the changes in the village from the listening passage. -T can help by writing the chages in brief on the board as a guide for the writing exercise. For example: - earthen houses -> brick houses - Ss can use this information and the example given in 4 to write their opinions about the changes Example: It's good for the village to have TVs. they can now have more fun and learn more about different people and different places 5. Work in groups. Discuss and find some changes in a rural area. Make note of the changes (p23) - Place Ss into small groups of three or four. Ss in each group work together to decide which rural area they will talk about. - They then discuss and note down some changes they can find in this area. 6.Write a short paragragh about the changes (p23) - Ss use their notes about the changes in a rural area to write a paragraph describing the changes. ' - T can guide their writing by providing them with some key words/phrases like ‘The first change is…’ or ‘' The change we are most interested in is...." - Work individually III. Consolidation (3') - Sum up the main content of the lesson. - Remember IV. Homework (2') - Learn by heart vocabulary and structures. - Complete the paragragh at home - Ex in workbook - Prepare next lesson. Unit 2. Lesson 7: Looking back - Listen and take note the assignments
