Calculate:
Tính:
a) \(\frac{3}{4} \times \frac{2}{9} + \frac{1}{3}\)
b) \(\frac{1}{4} : \frac{1}{3} - \frac{1}{2}\)
a) \(\frac{3}{4} \times \frac{2}{9} + \frac{1}{3} = \frac{3 \times 2}{4 \times 9} + \frac{1}{3}\)(perform multiplication first, add and subtract after) (thực hiện phép nhân trước, cộng trừ sau)
\(= \frac{3 \times 2}{2\times 2 \times 3\times 3} + \frac{1}{3} = \frac{1}{2\times 3} + \frac{1}{3}\) (Simplify both numerator and denominator for 2 and 3) (rút gọn cả tử và mẫu cho 2 và 3)
\(= \frac{1}{6} + \frac{1}{3} = \frac{1}{6} + \frac{1 \times 2}{3 \times 2} = \frac{1}{6} + \frac{2}{6}\)(make them have a common denominator and then add two fractions ) (quy đồng mẫu số rồi cộng hai phân số cùng mẫu)
\(= \frac{3}{6} = \frac{1}{2}\)
b) \(\frac{1}{4} : \frac{1}{3} - \frac{1}{2} = \frac{1}{4} \times \frac{3}{1} - \frac{1}{2} \frac{1 \times 3}{4 \times 1} - \frac{1}{2}\) (perform the division first, add and subtract after)(thực hiện phép chia trước, trừ sau)
\(= \frac{3}{4} - \frac{1}{2} = \frac{3}{4} - \frac{1 \times 2}{2 \times 2} = \frac{3}{4} - \frac{2}{4}\)(make them have a common denominator and then add two fractions) (quy đồng mẫu số rồi cộng hai phân số cùng mẫu)
\(= \frac{1}{4}\)
