Compare two fractions with a common numerator
So sánh hai phân số có cùng tử số:
a) Example: Compare $\frac{4}{5}$ and $\frac{4}{7}$
Ví dụ: So sánh $\frac{4}{5}$ và $\frac{4}{7}$
We have: $\frac{4}{5}$=$\frac{4\times 7}{5\times 7}$=$\frac{28}{35}$ and $\frac{4}{7}$=$\frac{4\times 5}{7\times 5}$=$\frac{20}{35}$
Ta có: $\frac{4}{5}$=$\frac{4\times 7}{5\times 7}$=$\frac{28}{35}$ và $\frac{4}{7}$=$\frac{4\times 5}{7\times 5}$=$\frac{20}{35}$
Because 28> 20 should be $\frac{4}{5}$> $\frac{4}{7}$
Vì 28 > 20 nên $\frac{4}{5}$ >$\frac{4}{7}$

Of the two fractions with the same numerator, the fraction with the smaller denominator is the greater.
Trong hai phân số có cùng tử số, phân số nào có mẫu số bé hơn thì phân số đó lớn hơn.
b) Compare two fractions:$\frac{9}{11}$ and $\frac{9}{14}$; $\frac{8}{9}$ and $\frac{8}{11}$
So sánh hai phân số: $\frac{9}{11}$ và $\frac{9}{14}$ ; $\frac{8}{9}$ and $\frac{8}{11}$
The two fractions $\frac{9}{11}$ and $\frac{9}{14}$ have the same numerator as 9 so:
Hai phân số $\frac{9}{11}$ và $\frac{9}{14}$ có cùng tử số là 9 nên :
911> 914 (because 11 <14);
911 > 914 ( vì 11 < 14) ;
Two fractions $\frac{9}{11}$ and $\frac{9}{14}$ have the same numerator as 8 so:
Hai phân số $\frac{9}{11}$ và $\frac{9}{14}$ có cùng tử số là 8 nên :
89> 811 (because 9 <11)
89 > 811 (vì 9 < 11)
