2. Talk about the nutrition in each item on your list. Use some of the bold words from A.

3. Plan a healthy meal. Explain your plan to another pair of students.

"It has some protein and vitamins, but I don't think you should eat a lot of pasta."

"We choose peach yogurt as the dairy food. It has some sugar in it, but it's also high in protein."

  • Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup)
  • Banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich)
  • Com tam (Broken rice)
  • Bun cha (Grilled pork with vermicelli noodles)
  • Goi cuon (Fresh spring rolls)
  • Ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk)
  • Tra da (Iced tea)
  • Nem nuong (Grilled pork sausage)
  • Banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancake)
  • Che (Sweet dessert soup)

2. Nutrition information for each item:

  • Tra da: a low-calorie and refreshing beverage that can be enjoyed without added sugar.
  • Nem nuong: a good source of protein from grilled pork sausage, but can be high in sodium and fat.
  • Banh xeo: contains protein from shrimp and pork, and fiber from vegetables, but can be high in calories from the use of oil for frying.
  • Che: can be high in sugar and calories from the addition of sweeteners and coconut milk, but can also be a good source of vitamins and minerals from the use of fruits and beans.

3. Plan a healthy meal. Explain your plan to another pair of students.

A: Hey, I'm planning a healthy Vietnamese meal for tonight. Want to hear about it?

B: Sure, what do you have in mind?

A: Well, I was thinking we could start with fresh spring rolls as an appetizer. They're low in calories and have lots of fresh vegetables.

B: Sounds good! What about the main course?

A: I was thinking grilled pork with vermicelli noodles, since it's a good source of protein and we can add lots of herbs and vegetables for extra vitamins and minerals.

B: That sounds delicious. What about a beverage?

A: We could have iced tea without added sugar to keep it low in calories.

B: Great idea. And for dessert?

A: I was thinking we could have some fresh fruit, like sliced mango or pineapple.

B: Perfect! That sounds like a tasty and healthy meal.
