The Saola Working Group (SWG) was set up in 2006. It is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to save the saola being disappeared in Laos and Viet Nam. Much of the work of SWG focuses on raising funds for saola protection projects and working with local governments so that they have greater political support for saola protection. SWG also works to educate people around the world about saolas and their threats to their habitat. Furthermore, SWG develops research and protection centres in the region to protect saolas. With the support of SWG, research and protection centres have been developed to raise awareness about rare and endangered animals including the saola.
